Extensive database of volunteers with different appearances is available

The depth and range of appearances within the volunteer database reflect the varied appearances found in the UK. The database includes people of all ages with a wide variety of appearances.

The National VIPER^® Bureau is responsible for the collection of these appearances to ensure the database reflects those of the population. The effort taken by the VIPER^® team to collect these images enables the police to concentrate on the process of video identification itself.

The time taken to compile the database must not be underestimated and a team of VIPER^® staff is engaged full time working towards this goal. The team travel to a variety of locations across the length and breadth of the UK to record images to enhance the database.
